Irfan Alam, the founder of Samman Foundation, gave a thought provoking and motivational speech about the plight of Rickshaw pullers and the challenges faced by them, at TEDxMICA. Samman foundiation, through tie ups with Punjable national bank, have been able to bring about revolutiton in this unorganised sector.
The micro finance sector, through its financial support, have empowered this marginalised community. The foundation, has been successful in its efforts to prevent exploitation of the rickshaw pullers. This has helped not only the rickswawpullers but also the manufacturers of the rickshaws. Mr Irfan Alam, believes that the future belongs to Battery operated and solar energy driven rickshaw.

At the end of his speech, He claimed that "Its not CSR, not a charity, Its a socially relevant buisness oppurtunity". The NGO has been running profiatably without any charity.
